The Safest, Most Effective Fat Loss Lasers in the World.

Erchonia’s non-thermal laser systems operate at the mitochondrial level, using visible laser light to support natural fat-loss processes without surgery, heat, or tissue destruction. Built on decades of clinical research and FDA-cleared wavelength science, our platforms target specific complexes within the Electron Transport Chain to influence cellular energy production at the source.

Designed for medical, wellness, and aesthetic clinics alike, these technologies move beyond surface-level contouring — supporting measurable circumference reduction and refined body shaping without downtime or compromise.

This is body sculpting engineered at the cellular level.

The Science Behind Erchonia Fat Loss Technology

What The Technology Is Cleared To Do.

Erchonia’s body-contouring lasers fall under the FDA’s “fat reducing low level laser” device category (product code OLI) with regulation 21 CFR 878.5400, and the intended use language centers on non-invasive body circumference reduction.

A foundational milestone for this category was the De Novo/classification decision for the “Erchonia ML Scanner,” in which the U.S. Food and Drug Administration classified the device type into Class II for “non-invasive dermatological aesthetic treatment for the reduction of circumference of hips, waist, and thighs,”.

A Historic First in Medical Aesthetics (De Novo/Classification)

Erchonia was the first company in history to receive FDA clearance for a non-thermal low-level laser for circumferential fat reduction. That De Novo classification established an entirely new regulatory category — defining the scientific and clinical pathway for non-invasive laser fat loss.

Subsequent generations — including our red (635 nm), green (532 nm), and violet (405 nm) systems — have continued to expand indications through rigorous clinical validation, including the first FDA clearance for violet laser in circumference reduction (K231474)

How It Works

The Cellular Mechanism of Action

Erchonia fat loss lasers function through photobiomodulation — the interaction of specific light wavelengths with mitochondrial chromophores.

Mitochondrial Activation

Laser photons are absorbed by cytochrome c oxidase within the mitochondria. Peer-reviewed evidence demonstrates that activation of this chromophore increases ATP production and upregulates cyclic AMP (cAMP) This biochemical cascade activates cytoplasmic lipase within adipocytes.

Triglyceride Breakdown

Activated lipase breaks intracellular triglycerides into:

  • Free fatty acids
  • Glycerol

This is a metabolic liberation, not cellular destruction.

Transient Pore Formation

Electron microscopy research demonstrates that exposure to low-level laser light results in transient micropore formation in adipocyte membranes. These pores allow liberated lipids to pass into the extracellular space.

Imaging studies show:

  • ~80% fat release after 12 minutes
  • Nearly 100% release after 18 minutes
  • Collapse (deflation) — not necrosis — of adipocytes

There is no thermal disruption of surrounding tissues. No fibrosis. No scarring.

Adipocyte Deflation

Once intracellular content exits, adipocytes reduce in volume. Circumference reduction follows.

This mechanism has been repeatedly supported in:

  • SEM fat cell imaging
  • MRI T1 and T2 sequence validation
  • Peer-reviewed human clinical trials
